Welcome to Holy Family Cemetery
Nestled south of Holy Family Catholic Church at 9th and Birch Streets, lies the Eudora Catholic cemetery. Since June 1865, when Peter A. Hartig, one of the founders of Eudora, presented the Holy Family parish with this plot of ground, it has provided the last resting place for numerous of the pioneers who settled Eudora, their descendants, and many others who called Eudora home.
The first laid to rest in the cemetery were Henry and Anton Seiwald, aged 9 and 10, sons of Joseph and Thekla Seiwald, who drowned near the mouth of the Wakarusa River in August 1864. As that was before the cemetery came into existence, the bodies of the two boys, which had been buried in a family cemetery upon their deaths, were moved to rest in the new Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
Rich in history and natural beauty, we hope you find our cemetery a place for healing, hope, and remembrance. Whether you are visiting a loved one, planning ahead, or seeking information, we are here to assist you with compassion and guidance.
