RULES AND REGULATIONS OF BETH EL CONGREGATION MEMORIAL PARK
1. Interment in Beth El Congregation's (“Congregation”) Memorial Park ("Memorial Park") is restricted to members of the Jewish faith, except in such Interfaith sections of the Memorial Park as shall from time to time be designated by the Board of Trustees of the Congregation. Burial in such sections will be permitted for the following relatives of a member: (i) his/her spouse, even if a non-Jew; (ii) his/her children and their spouses even if non-Jewish; (iii) his/her grandchildren, even in non-Jewish; (iv) his/her siblings (and their spouses), even if non-Jewish; (v) his/her parents, even if non-Jewish. The aforesaid privileges intended based on membership shall apply both during and after members' lifetime. If the Congregation refuses to permit interment pursuant to this rule, as then amended or modified, the Congregation shall refund to the Plot Owner, the original purchase price paid for said Plot(s), and the liability of the Congregation shall be limited to said amount, and this shall be the sole and only remedy of the Plot Owner. Upon the refund of this original purchase price paid, all interest of the Plot Owner in any said Plot(s) shall revert back to the Congregation and said Owner and/or their representatives(s) shall do any and all acts necessary to reconvey the Plot(s) to the Congregation.
2. No enclosure, fence, coping, tree, shrub, planting, adornments, or other additions shall be permitted in, on or around any grave or lot.
3. The size, wording and materials of grave monuments, footstones, etc. shall be regulated by the Congregation.is done to conform to the historic and cherished Jewish teaching that every person before God is the equal of every other person, that a cemetery should not be a place to reflect distinctions between people that in life were based upon personal accomplishment or even the special feelings of a family for their loved one. Therefore, the recommended wording of all plaques at the Beth El Congregation Memorial Park shall read (according to each person involved), after the name of the departed and the date of passing has been noted,
'Beloved husband/wife, father/mother, grandfather/grandmother, great-grandfather/great-grandmother,
brother, sister, son, daughter, friend or any other significant relationship
deemed appropriate to honor the memory of the deceased.'
Wording is limited to thirty-four characters per line subject to a maximum of six lines. All such wording must be approved by the Memorial Park Committee and an additional charge to the Plot Owner will be incurred if the wording exceeds the above guidelines. See paragraph 14, below.
4. Inasmuch as interment in a Jewish cemetery is a religious ceremony, the right of officiation within the Memorial Park is restricted to ordained clergy of the Jewish faith or other members of the Jewish faith approved by the Senior Rabbi of the Congregation.
5. Vault liners shall be used for all interments to preserve the structural stability of each grave site.
6. The Memorial Park grounds shall be open for visitation from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. daily, but shall be closed to visitation on the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.
7. Solicitation of any kind is prohibited on the Memorial Park grounds,
8. No disinterment from any plot or grave shall be made without prior written consent of the Owners of the Plot and of all persons having a direct interest therein including the Congregation, or upon an Order of a Court or competent jurisdiction. All charges for such disinterment shall be payable in advance by the directing party before disinterment shall be permitted.
9. Unveilings shall be scheduled through the office of the Congregation and may not be held on the Sabbath or Jewish Holidays.
10. The final authority on matters of religious law (Halachah) regarding the Memorial Park shall be the Senior Rabbi of the Congregation.
11. Mandatory payment for perpetual care is restricted to maintenance and upkeep of the Plot only and does not include repairs or replacements of foundations, footstones, headstones or monuments.
12. No burials are permitted in any Plot, until the full purchase price has been paid by the purchaser.
13. Plot owners shall not sell, transfer, or assign any Plot, or any interest in it any Plot without the consent in writing of the Congregational President or Executive Director, and such information shall be endorsed upon any transfer or assignment. If the original purchaser desires to sell or transfer a Plot, it shall first be offered to the Congregation at the original purchase price. If the repurchase is declined by the Congregation, any such third-party sale or transfer involving monetary consideration shall be limited to the original purchase price of the Plot(s) when purchased by the seller/transferor.
14. Special Restrictions for the new section of Memorial Park:
A. Colors of Headstones bearing family names shall be either Gray, Black, or Rose.
B. Dimensions of Family headstones and lettering shall be no larger than the following:
C. Appropriate symbols for headstones and footstones are: Menorah, Star of David, Kohan Hands, Levite Pitcher, Open book, and appropriate military emblems or symbols.
15. In conjunction with paragraph 2 above, the Memorial Park Committee reserves the right to approve or disapprove any proposed symbols to be placed on either a headstone or a footstone in either the old or the new sections of Memorial Park.
16. Burial of pet cremains/remains is strictly prohibited.
